Flower Girl by Sharon Fritchman

Hi everyone!  It’s Sharon here today to share a mixed media art journal project that I made using two different CoreStacks  –  I love how these stacks go together so well!

I got the idea for my project after I heard the song “I Love the Flower Girl” by the Cowsills, from the 60’s, while driving in my car. After hearing this fun song, I wanted to use some of these lyrics for my project.  I immediately thought of the pretty faces printed on tissue paper from the Faces & Figures Corestack and knew that one would be perfect for my flower girl.

So . . . I began by painting my page with Gesso, letting it dry, then creating my background with watercolors and stencils. Next, I adhered the face printed on tissue paper to my page using gel medium.  (FYI:  Heather has a great video under the “ArtStacks Essentials” tab entitled “The Lowdown on Using Tissue Paper.”)  Then I fussy cut the pink flowers from the Anemones & Friends Corestack and placed them in my flower girl’s hair and around the page, just like in the song. I also added some stems. (FYI again- check out Heather’s video entitled “Fussy Cutting – What’s the Fuss?”)  Next, I glued the song lyrics to my page.  And finally, I finished with some stamping and added some gingko leaves from the Trees & Leaves stack.

The stacks I used are:

Faces & Figures

Anemones & Friends

Trees & Leaves #1

I hope you get to make something flowery soon 🙂
