‘1625’ by Guest Designer Casey Turner

We would like to welcome our very special Guest Designer, Casey Turner! Casey, known as @expressyourartsysoul on Instagram, creates beautiful, meaningful art in gorgeous colours. She’s a passionate teacher on sites like Wanderlust and runs online classes and challenges.

We asked Casey which ArtStacks pack she’d like to create with and she chose our super-gorgeous Weathered Walls pack. This pack comes in both digital and printed formats. Casey chose our printed version which has some amazing textures!

Here’s the first project that Casey created:

Casey said, “As soon as I saw the Weathered Walls pack, I immediately envisioned a pretty wreath painted on one of the doors. So that’s exactly what I did. I added the weather door image with the wreath to a paint swatch from the hardware store, you know the ones they have for free so you can see what paint you’d like to paint a room or something. I love to use those for creating collage clusters. I chose the one that said “gatherings” as if this wreathed door was welcoming family coming home for the holidays. I sewed the cluster with some bits of old book pages and some fabric.”

This is what the door cluster looked like before Casey adhered it to her page.

Casey continues, “I decided to add this cluster to some art journal pages. I created a background using the brick image printed on tissue paper from the Weathered Walls pack. I love the subtlety of the tissue paper as it works perfectly to create that illusion of the outside of a house, which was what I was going for. I added one of the house numbers from the same pack to tie in with the door image. I made some ornaments from my own painted background stickers to add a more homey, Christmassy feel.

I really enjoyed making these pages and using the Weathered Walls paper pack. I already have ideas for how I’d like to use more of the papers and images!”
