Today Tina Hois shares this double page art journal spread with lots of luscious layers of stenciling, mark making, and stitching – and the Tracy Verdugo Love Lives Here stack.
Tina started by covering the spread with gesso. She then painted it, stenciled over the background, and added lots of marks with fluorescent pink paint, lead pencil and white gel pen. After cutting out the various elements from Tracy’s Love Lives Here packs (words, hearts, and woman), she stitched around hearts. Tina adhered all the images to the page and punched holes in the word pieces, then ran a thread through the holes and secured them to the journal page.
All these simple techniques came together to create a beautiful and complex looking journal spread.
