Heather McMahon is with us today with a terrific idea for decorating your glasses case! Heather used digital papers from Tracy Verdugo’s Under the Sea pack to great effect here!
Heather said, “I recently got a pair of glasses for reading – and crafting! – and I looked at the boring case and decided it needed a lift. Full kudos to the uber-talented Sandi Spink here. Years ago I bought some decorated glasses cases from her for gifts and her idea stuck with me.
Firstly I painted the case with metallic teal paint. While it was drying I pulled up my digital files of the Under the Sea pack and printed the first two pages on the thinnest digital paper I had so the paper would sit fairly flat on the case. The colours on these pages are sensational! I then cut strips from the papers, inked the edges then wove the strips into this simple shape and glued it down with Mod Podge. I then cut random organic shapes from the same paper, glued them down then decorated everything with black and white paint pens. I will finish it off with a layer of Mod Podge later to seal everything in place, but I’m still thinking about how to decorate the other side first.
The ideas that you could use for this are endless.
A tip: Keep your papers small or it’ll be hard to shape them around the case.”
